Purpose of the Post: Under the supervision of the Chief Section HIV/AIDS and in collaboration with Health and nutrition section the candidate will be expected to carry out the following tasks:
Main Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Participate in the collection of data for the situation analysis on children and women (SitAN) as appropriate , participate in the development of the annual work plans , revision , monitoring and evaluation of the HIV program activities and results with emphasis on PMTCT 2. Contribute to PMTCT and RH policy and guidelines documents 3. Provide technical assistance to SNAP on PMTCT scaling up plan and support its implementation at PMTCT sites. 4. Contribute to training of the different PMTCT service providers e.g. pediatricians, General Practitioners, counselors 5. Assess existing and prospective PMTCT sites and provide on-site technical support to health workers for quality HIV counseling and testing in PHC, ANC and maternity settings 6. Identify barriers to acceptance of HIV test by pregnant women and propose programmatic changes. 7. In collaboration with the C4D section and HIV/AIDS project officers contribute to the development and review of IEC materials, HIV counseling and testing strategies and support PMTCT sites for greater involvement of male partners in PMTCT 8. Provide technical assistance to pediatric care center 9. Reinforce linkage PMTCT and ART for eligible mother and children 10. In collaboration with Health and Nutrition section contribute to the integration of PMTCT into RH services 11. Facilitate a regular supplies for PMTCT intrants HIV tests, consumables, ARVs to PMTCT sites 12. Contribute to technical working groups on PMTCT, Reproductive health and pediatric HIV/AIDS 13. Prepare regular field reports and update on the progress of the HIV response
Minimum Qualifications: 1. Degree in public health, education or social sciences. . MD gynecologist or Pediatricians preferred. 2. Employment experience a minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible professional work experience at national level in HIV/AIDS, PMTCT and pediatric ART program. HW/ADS clinical practice experience will be an asset. 3. Other skills and attributes: sensitivity to cultural diversity good analytical, negotiating, team work communication and advocacy skills, report writing skills. Spoken and written fluency in English is required. 4. IT knowledge required. Proficiency in standard office applications.
Duty Station and Travel: The post holder will be located at UNICEF office in Khartoum with frequent travels to support UNICEF sub- offices in Northern Sudan.
