Vacancy The Sudanese Microfinance Development Facility (SMDF) is a microfinance development initiative, launched in 2008 by the Central Bank of Sudan and the Multi Donor Trust Fund that became a private limited liability company in August 2009 The SMDF is designed to support the establishment of new and existing microfinance institutions and providers through dissemination of best practices, technical assistance and training, financing and managing donor resources. It will support creation of new MFIs as well as downscailng banks and other providers to serve the sector.
In its efforts to expand its outreach and function as a viable Apex institution, SMDF is seeking a qualified Sudanese national to undertake the post of Business Development Specialist to work at its main office in Khartoum. The Business Development Specialist will work in close liaison with the SMDF projects and the Micro-Finance Unit of the CBOS to ensure efficient and effective project implementation in accordance with SMDF, CBOS and World Bank guidelines.
The Business Development Specialist will also help in ensuring the sustainability of SMDF’s operations by seeking new sources of funding and establishing strong relationships with key players and partners in the Micro finance sector. The BDS will also regularly monitor the sector in order to identify new market developments and trends upon which SMDF can capitalize on to mobilize additional funding and expand its outreach and scope. The Business Development Specialist will report to the SMDF Managing Director.
More specifically the incumbent will undertake the following M&E Activities:
• Develop the tools and indicators to measure progress towards projects outcomes and overall SMDF objectives in close collaboration with MF players in North Sudan (MFU, CBoS, MoF, WB, Multi, Donors, NGOs, etc).
• Assist in the compilation of reports from partner organizations to be fed into the SMDF loan tracking system.
• Work closely with MD and MF specialist to design activities to strengthen the capacity of SMDF staff and Partner Organizations in the area of M&E.
• Support the design and implementation of baseline and other surveys for the MF sector.
• Work closely with SMDF/CBoS and Donors to conduct regular project reviews;
• Support the Managing Director in the revision of work plans and strategies
• Develop the overall framework for project M&E and procedures for the evaluation of project activities including annual project reviews, participatory impact assessments and process monitoring;
• Develop benchmarks and ensure performance improvement through the development of data collection tools reporting formats and evaluation instruments, in accordance with SMDF/CBOS standards
• Organize and conduct training on M&E for different SMDF and other projects’ staff
• Undertake regular visits to the field to support implementation of M&E activities and to identify where adaptations and modifications might be needed
• Prepare reports on the findings and lessons learned from project innovations The incumbent will also undertake the following Business Development
Activities:
• Design and implement processes for supporting business growth for SMDF including a long term sustainability plan
• Identify fundraising and resource mobilization opportunities
• Help in identifying new sources of incomefor SMDF
• Help in enhancing the SMDF marketing
Strategy:
• Build and maintain high level contacts with donors and funding agencies.
Qualifications:
• Master Degree in Economics, Marketing, Business Administration, international Relations or a related social sciences field.
• At least 5 years professional work experience in project management, Monitoring and Evaluation.
• Demonstrated track record and experience in resource mobilization while working for the private sector or international organizations;
• Strong substantive knowledge of Monitoring and Evaluation tools is required; in particular results based management.
• Familiarity with and experience in the application of RBM in programming monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
• Strong written and spoken Arabic and English skills.
• Excellentability to writeand communicate orally with accuracy and professionalism.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Outstanding computing skills, including full fluency in the Microsoft Suite of Programs.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
